In shock that Obama won. and won big.

In shock that CA isn't as open and accepting as I thought. That a measure like prop 8 can actually pass.

I wrote this on the eve of super tuesday during the primaries. it still speaks to me today:

Every so often, I question my support for Obama. I wonder if i'm too quick to make a judgement, if i shouldn't be putting more emphasis on experience or on issue specifics. And then it hit me. Supporting Obama is taking a risk. A risk that says, I haven't seen the future yet, but I know this nation can be better. I know this world can be better. But to get there takes a gamble. A vote for Hilary is a vote for the Democrats status quo. We'd be ok with a Hilary presidency (much better than we are now, thats for sure) but we as a country wouldn't be moving forward. We'd be stuck in a partisan muck for who knows how long. But it would be ok. For me, Obama is about the possibility of moving beyond that. About redefining america itself. Changing the way we look at the rest of the world, and ourselves. And yes, its a risk. And yes, we might fail. But we'll never know our true potential unless we take that chance. Shoot for the moon, land among the stars.

its funny what it takes to make you realize how great life and living is.

all i know is that i am the happiest i have ever been and whats best is that that happiness is not coming from any sort of relationship, or great achievement in my life. its just the right time, the right circumstances, and finally, the right attitude.

the best decision i made this year was to come to dc this summer.

So i thought my paper was due today at three, but apparently its due NEXT thursday at 3. and of course only after i basically finish it do i realize this. oh well, at least its done? im going to let it stew and make it better i guess...i feel stupid though...and i missed both my classes today :-\

This year I've been busy!

and i'm back in LA! i've had a long weekend - we left yesterday morning, drove six hours to Mammoth Lakes to meet up with my dad and sister and various other family members, stayed overnight there, and then drove another six hours to get to LA. Once i got here, i unpacked about half my stuff, then went to the pool with alex and lindsay, relaxed, came back, got dinner and went to ralphs, and then finished unpacking. i'm thoroughly exhausted, but i'm really excited to be here and start class and enjoy life in LA :)

i leave for europe in about 7 hours. i feel like i should be more excited than i actually am. i'm really quite nervous. nervous that i'll be the outcast again, nervous that the trip won't live up to my expectations, nervous that something bad is going to happen. but oh well - time to finish packing. :)

baaaaah. i woke up early this morning, ON A SATURDAY, to work on my PS 6 data essay in powell and of course i can not figure out this assignment for the life of me, and of course i'm leaving in a couple hours to go to disneyland, and won't have access to the software i need to do my assignment, so i'm gonna have to write my whole essay on monday and bah! this sucks...:(

i got an A on my ling midterm! woohoo :) first one of those i've gotten in a while. i feel like i've just been working hard enough to get through my classes with decent grades, and as much as try to stop it, i just keep doing it. i try to challenge myself to try harder, to actually study once in a while but it doesn't really work all that well.
